Saint Spyridon Church

Saint Spyridon Church is an Orthodox house of worship in Corfu featuring a distinctive red dome and a tall bell tower with a clock face. The interior is richly decorated with gilded ceiling paintings and religious icons that fill the space with warmth and color.

The church was built at the end of the 16th century as a foundation of a local family and was later enriched with sacred relics brought from elsewhere. These religious remains made it an important place of pilgrimage for believers throughout the region.

Inside the church are two large candles from the early 18th century that commemorate a legendary protective miracle. These candles tell of a dramatic episode when the saint allegedly turned away grave danger from the island.
