Archaelogical Museum, Archaeological museum in central Nafplion, Greece.
The Archaeological Museum occupies a former Venetian building and displays objects from different periods in the region, spanning from early human presence to Roman times. The collection is arranged across two floors and presents findings from major local settlements and caves.
The building was constructed in 1713 during Venetian rule as a warehouse for naval supplies and served this practical purpose for quite a long time. In the early 20th century, it was converted into a museum to preserve the region's archaeological treasures.
The collection tells the story of how people lived and developed across different eras in the Argolis region over thousands of years. Visitors can observe how daily life, craftsmanship, and communities changed gradually through time.
The museum is centrally located in Nafplio and easy to reach on foot, with clear markings guiding visitors through both floors. It helps to allow enough time to view the many objects at a comfortable pace without rushing.
The collection includes the Dendra Panoply, a complete bronze armor set from the 15th century BC that was found in a local chamber tomb and remains remarkably intact. This discovery offers rare insights into ancient combat equipment and metalworking craft.
