Music School of Rhodes, music school in Rhodes
The Music School of Rhodes is a modern educational institution on Rhodes Island located in the Koskinou area that focuses on teaching music to students of different ages alongside other academic subjects. The building features a straightforward functional design with dedicated practice rooms and spaces equipped for musical instruction across twelve sections serving different grade levels.
The school opened in September 1993 with just 28 students and 10 teachers serving the island's musical education needs. Over the following decades it expanded steadily, now hosting more than 230 students instructed by nearly 70 teachers, reflecting its growing importance in the local community.
The school serves as a hub for musical training on the island, where families send their children to develop creatively alongside academic subjects. It hosts regular public performances and the annual Music Festival of Rhodes, where students display their skills to the local community.
The school operates on weekdays from early morning through mid-afternoon, allowing students to attend classes and rehearsals during normal daytime hours. The straightforward layout with designated practice areas and instrument spaces makes navigation simple for visitors exploring the facility.
Beyond traditional music performances, the school supports student-led creative projects such as developing a 3D game called Rollit and operating a student-run radio station. These varied programs show how the institution blends music with technology and broadcast media in unconventional ways.
