St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Rhodes, Roman Catholic cathedral near St. Athanasius Gate, Rhodes, Greece
The cathedral exhibits three entrance arches leading to a basilica layout with three naves and a transept containing two marble chapels.
Construction of the cathedral commenced in 1936 under architect Armando Bernabiti, with Archbishop Giovanni Castellani and Italian governor Mario Lago present at the ceremony.
The sanctuary walls display frescoes by Pietro Gaudenzi depicting scenes from St. Francis' life, including the Stigmata Miracle and Bird Preaching.
Sunday Mass begins at 10:00 AM with readings available in 12 languages through translation brochures provided by local volunteers.
The interior features Kalithea white marble flooring, onyx windows, and fourteen terracotta bas-reliefs representing the Stations of the Cross by Monteleone.
