Naos Episkopis

Naos Episkopis is a marble structure with a central dome and red-tiled roofs that blend different building traditions. Its cross-shaped layout has a central space where ancient architectural ideas mix with later construction choices.

The building dates to the third century when it was built as a tomb for a wealthy person. Over time it was adapted for religious purposes and became a place of worship in the Byzantine period.

Inside, a wooden screen divides the space and holds religious paintings from different periods. These images show holy figures and are important to how people here practice their faith.

The building is difficult to visit regularly since it opens only on special religious occasions. Visitors should check ahead about opening dates and plan their trip around these times.

Archaeological work uncovered an undisturbed burial with jewelry and personal items that belonged to a woman named Neiko. These findings provide insight into daily life and customs of the people who lived here.
