Notre-Dame d'Amiens, Gothic cathedral in Amiens, France

Notre-Dame d'Amiens Cathedral displays three deep-set portals, a rose window measuring 13 meters, and towers reaching 112 meters into the sky.

Construction started in 1220 under Bishop Evrard de Fouilloy after a fire destroyed the previous church, with architect Robert de Luzarches directing the nave building.

The cathedral contains a black marble labyrinth extending 234 meters, which medieval pilgrims followed on their knees as a symbolic journey to Jerusalem.

Visitors can explore the cathedral towers, treasury, and extensive collection of medieval sculptures through guided tours or self-guided audio experiences.

The cathedral maintains records of every original builder's name on a central stone from 1288, documenting the completion of construction work.
