Hénin-Beaumont, Administrative commune in Pas-de-Calais, France.
Hénin-Beaumont is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department of northern France, lying at an elevation of 32 meters. The settlement belongs to the arrondissement of Lens and features residential neighborhoods, public facilities, and shops and services for daily needs.
The commune formed in 1970 through the merger of two neighboring towns, Hénin-Liétard and Beaumont. It received the Croix de guerre in recognition of wartime damage and rebuilding after conflicts during the 20th century.
The name combines two former settlements that now form a single urban area. Markets take place twice a week and draw residents from surrounding neighborhoods.
The commune lies within the Lens urban area and is accessible by road and regional transport. Restaurants, health services, schools, and public spaces spread across several neighborhoods.
Archaeological finds confirm Roman settlement long before the place name Hennium appeared in written records around the year 950. These traces show continuous human presence for more than two millennia.
