Château du Haut Rosay

Château du Haut Rosay is a castle built in Louis XIII style featuring brick walls decorated with stone chain patterns. Four corner bastions and surrounding dry moats create its defensive structure, while the grounds also contain a park, outbuildings, terraces, and old hydraulic installations.

The fortress dates back to its first mention in 1036 and served a defensive role during the Anglo-Norman invasion of 1098 to protect the Capetian monarchy. Between 1719 and 1721, major renovations took place that included the construction of a chapel dedicated to Saint Anne.

The castle obtained classification as a historical monument in 1992, recognizing its architectural value and contribution to French heritage.

The property covers several distinct areas that are easily explored on foot throughout the grounds. Visitors can take their time to walk around the fortifications, park areas, and various structures spread across the estate.

The chapel dedicated to Saint Anne was added during 18th century renovations and remains a notable religious element within what was originally a military structure. This blending of fortification with spiritual purpose shows how the estate transformed its function over time.
