Bréville-sur-Mer, Village in Normandy, France

Bréville-sur-Mer is a small village in the Manche department of Normandy, situated close to the English Channel coast. Its streets are lined with old stone houses with tiled roofs, and the sea is visible from several points in the village.

In 1022, Richard II, Duke of Normandy, granted land in this area to an abbey near Mont-Saint-Michel. In the late 18th century, a sea captain named René Perrée had the Château du Vau Tertreux built, which was later transformed into a castle-style residence during the 19th century.

The Notre-Dame church, built in the Middle Ages, stands at the center of village life and is open to visitors. Right next to it is the Saint-Hélier fountain, decorated with a statue from 1886, which locals traditionally believe can heal eye problems.

Walking through the village is the easiest way to discover the main points of interest, including the church, the fountain, and sea views. A vehicle is useful for reaching the surrounding sites, as some spots are not easily accessible on foot.

The hamlet of La Mizière once had a house for people with leprosy, placed directly on the pilgrim route to Mont-Saint-Michel. That building was later converted into a country home for a wealthy family connected to the fishing and shipping trade.
