The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel features eight Corinthian marble columns crowned with statues of Napoleon's Grand Army soldiers, including dragoons and grenadiers.
Architects Charles Percier and Pierre François Léonard Fontaine constructed this monument between 1806 and 1808 to celebrate Napoleon's victories in the Austrian campaign.
The monument displays detailed bas-reliefs depicting significant military events, including the Surrender at Ulm and the Battle of Austerlitz by different sculptors.
Located between the Louvre Museum and Tuileries Garden, visitors can view the arch from multiple angles through the gardens or courtyard.
The arch originally displayed the bronze Horses of Saint Mark from Venice until 1815, when they returned to Italy and were replaced with new sculptures.
