Carrousel Garden

Carrousel Garden is a formal green space beside the Louvre Museum with symmetrical hedge patterns and paved paths radiating from the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel. The layout follows strict geometric lines with open grass areas and structured plantings arranged throughout.

Napoleon ordered the creation of this garden as part of his reshaping of the French capital. The design reflects the era's preference for orderly, mathematical garden layouts that expressed power and control.

The bronze sculptures scattered throughout show female forms created by Aristide Maillol, blending naturally with the garden's layout and inviting visitors to notice them while walking. These works have become part of how locals and travelers experience the space today.

The garden is accessible from multiple sides, especially from Rue de Rivoli and the Louvre area, making it easy for visitors to enter. The flat paved paths are pleasant for walking, and there are benches positioned throughout among the hedge rows.
