Mouthe

Mouthe is a village nestled in the Jura Mountains near the Swiss border, situated at approximately 950 meters elevation in a spacious mountain setting. The landscape around it features dense forests and traditional mountain architecture with sloped roofs and stone buildings.

The village gained its administrative role during the French Revolution when the Doubs department was established in 1790, bringing this mountain region under new governance. Since then, it has served as a local administrative center for the surrounding area.
