Château du Moulin, Medieval castle in Lassay-sur-Croisne, France.

Château du Moulin is a castle in Lassay-sur-Croisne with a rectangular structure built from orange and black bricks, featuring towers, moats, and a drawbridge at its entrance. The property includes extensive gardens accessible to visitors.

Philippe du Moulin, a childhood friend of King Charles VIII, commissioned this castle between 1480 and 1501. The construction took place during the French Renaissance period when the kingdom was consolidating power.

The castle houses a Strawberry Conservatory maintaining over 40 local varieties in its gardens, reflecting the region's horticultural heritage.

The castle is open to visitors from April through September and can be explored independently or with guided tours. It is best to check opening hours in advance before planning your visit.

The castle served as a filming location for numerous historical productions, including Jean Epstein's 1926 film adaptation of George Sand's Mauprat. Its striking architecture made it a favored backdrop for cinema crews.
