Chambon-sur-Dolore is a small commune in the Puy-de-Dôme department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, within the canton of Saint-Germain-l'Herm in the arrondissement of Ambert. It sits at close to 1,000 meters above sea level, surrounded by the forests and hills of the Livradois-Forez regional park.
The village was a farming community for centuries, with residents relying on agriculture and animal husbandry. In 1936, the commune officially changed its name from Chambon to Chambon-sur-Dolore to distinguish it from other places with similar names, taking the name from the local Dolore river.
The Saint-Pierre church near the village center serves as a gathering point for local celebrations and Sunday services. The village sits within the Livradois-Forez regional park, and residents maintain a strong connection to local food traditions, including cheeses like Saint-Nectaire and Bleu d'Auvergne.
