Parc zoologique du Livradois, Animal park in Champétières, France.
The Parc zoologique du Livradois was a zoo spread across 50 hectares (124 acres) that housed diverse animal species from around the world in designed enclosures. Forest paths wound through the grounds, allowing visitors to observe the animals in arranged habitats.
The facility opened in 1975 and operated for about 40 years as a regional attraction. It closed in 2015 following investigations that uncovered serious animal welfare concerns.
The park served as a place where visitors could learn about endangered species and conservation efforts through educational programs meant to raise environmental awareness. This educational mission shaped how the region viewed the facility for many years.
The park was located near Ambert in the Puy-de-Dôme department with rest areas where visitors could sit and observe. The grounds provided ample space for comfortable viewing throughout the visit.
Following the closure, surviving animals were transferred to various sanctuaries and other parks. This relocation came after legal action taken against those responsible for managing the facility.
