Château de Tournoël

Château de Tournoël is a medieval fortress situated on a rocky mountain spur near Volvic, built from local stone and positioned at about 594 meters elevation. The structure includes defensive towers and walls arranged to take advantage of the natural terrain, with sweeping views across the surrounding plains.

Construction of the fortress began in the 10th century as a strategic stronghold in the Auvergne region. The site changed hands among local nobility and underwent modifications as military needs evolved throughout the medieval period.
