The castle forms a square structure measuring 65 meters on each side, with two floors raised on a basement and square towers at the corners.
Baron James de Rothschild commissioned architect Joseph Paxton to construct this residence between 1855 and 1859, with Napoleon III attending its inauguration in 1862.
The interior spaces showcase an extensive collection of paintings, tapestries, and art objects, reflecting the refined taste of the Rothschild family.
The castle houses two restaurants: Le Baron, offering gourmet dining experiences, and Le Chai, located in the former kitchen building with park views.
The original design excluded kitchens from the main building, connecting instead to a separate structure through an underground tunnel to prevent cooking odors.
