Château des Réaux

Château des Réaux is a Renaissance castle situated on an island surrounded by water-filled ditches, with traditional French gardens and period architectural details throughout. The structure features elegant stone facades combined with water features that encircle the entire property.

In the 15th century, Jean Briçonnet, Tours' first mayor, acquired the ruins and rebuilt the castle on the site of an earlier fortified structure. In 1650, writer Tallemant des Réaux purchased the property and gave it his family name.

The castle houses an art gallery featuring works by more than 500 international artists, with a focus on how contemporary artists represent legs in their work. This collection reflects an unusual artistic focus that visitors encounter while exploring the rooms.

The castle offers overnight stays in themed guest rooms and features a heated swimming pool as well as boat rides in the water-filled moat. Visitors should allow plenty of time to thoroughly explore the gardens and art collection.
