Poitiers Cathedral, Catholic cathedral in Poitiers, France.

Poitiers Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral in the French city of Poitiers and impresses with three naves of equal height and width. The interior is marked by stone vaults that extend approximately 27 meters above the floor, while the building stretches about 94 meters in length.

Construction of the cathedral began in 1162 under Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine, built upon the foundations of an earlier Roman basilica. These two rulers shaped the religious landscape of their territories in this way.

The cathedral displays remarkable stained glass windows from the 12th century that show biblical scenes and figures from that era. These windows shape the light and mood inside today, telling through their images of the place's meaning to the faithful.

The cathedral is located in the center of Poitiers and is easily reached on foot, with regular opening hours for visitors. The interior offers plenty of space to explore, with the best views of the windows occurring in daylight.

The Clicquot organ from 1791 remains in its original condition today and functions with its mechanical components from the 18th century. This instrument is a rare example of how a historical organ can preserve its authenticity over the centuries.
