Église Sainte-Radegonde de Poitiers, Medieval church in Poitiers, France.
The church combines Romanesque features like rounded arches with Gothic elements including pointed arches and ribbed vaults across its Latin cross layout.
Originally built as a mortuary chapel in the 6th century, the church was reconstructed after a fire in 1083 and rededicated in 1099.
The church houses the tomb of Saint Radegund, a Frankish queen who founded one of the first female monasteries in Gaul.
Visitors can explore the church's interior, which features period sculptures, altars, and stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes and Saint Radegund's life.
The remains of Saint Radegund were exhumed in 1012 by Abbess Béliarde for public veneration, transforming the site into a pilgrimage destination.
