Dolmen de la Loge-au-Loup, dolmen in Trédion, France
The dolmen de la Loge-au-Loup is a gallery grave built from large granite blocks in Trédion. The structure resembles a long corridor with upright stones on both sides supporting a large flat capstone, measuring about 30 feet (9 meters) long and roughly 5 feet (1.5 meters) wide.
The dolmen was built during the Neolithic period when people began creating permanent structures from stone. Over thousands of years, it has undergone changes as tree roots shifted stones and parts of the original mound gradually eroded away.
The name Loge-au-Loup refers to an old location reference that lives on in local memory. People today see this structure as a quiet reminder of the distant past and the communities that once shaped this land.
The dolmen is freely accessible with no entrance fee or advance booking required. The site sits in a quiet rural area, so wear comfortable shoes and come prepared for uneven ground.
The granite surface still bears toolmarks from the Neolithic period thousands of years ago. These visible marks remind visitors that this was shaped by human hands and hint at the labor required to raise it.
