Serrabone Priory

The stone priory rises at 600 meters elevation in the Pyrénées-Orientales region, surrounded by an oak forest in the Aspres mountain range.

The monastery originated in 1001 and transformed into an Augustinian priory in 1082 under the authority of the Count of Conflent.

The marble rostrum from the 12th century exhibits detailed carvings of animals and plants, representing Romanesque sculptural techniques of medieval France.

Visitors can access the priory through mountain roads, with an entrance fee of 1.50 euros and daily opening hours except during specific holidays.

The walls combine local schist stone with pink marble from Conflent, creating a distinct pattern throughout the medieval religious complex.
