Lac de Vesoul – Vaivre, Recreational lake in Vaivre-et-Montoille, France.
Lac de Vesoul – Vaivre is an artificial reservoir with a water surface of about 85 hectares and a shoreline of roughly 5 kilometers. The water level stays fairly consistent throughout the year, creating a stable environment for recreation and nature.
The reservoir was built between 1976 and 1978 to serve water and power needs in the region. In the 1980s, sailing facilities and a campground were added, transforming the site into a popular recreation area.
The lake hosts gatherings like the annual Cox Party for Volkswagen fans and Fourth of July fireworks displays that draw people together. These events have become part of the summer rhythm, bringing the local community and visitors to the shores.
Two restaurants sit on opposite shores and a camping area provides lodging for extended visits. The site is easy to reach and works well for day trips or longer stays, especially during the warmer months.
The lake shelters a variety of migratory birds that stop to rest and feed during their journeys. An aeration system installed in 2018 helps maintain water quality and support these animals throughout the year.
