Château de Sallenôves, Medieval castle in Marlioz, France

The castle stands on a rocky spur at 400 meters altitude, overlooking the confluence of small and large Usses valleys in Haute-Savoie.

Built in the 12th century, the fortress served as a control point along the Roman road connecting Geneva to Seyssel through the county of Geneva.

The main gate features the Sallenove family coat of arms, while the architecture includes two square towers known as Tour salle and Tour du carré.

The private property allows visitors to view only the exterior areas of the castle, which includes defensive structures and a double line of dry moats.

Local tales mention the chambre du Diable, where a spectral armored horse reportedly appears at midnight according to regional folklore.
