Château du Fey

Château du Fey is a castle positioned on a hilltop overlooking the Yonne Valley and surrounded by forest. A long driveway winds through the surrounding woodland to reach the main residence at the top.

Nicolas de Baugy began construction of the present castle in 1620 during the reign of Louis XIII, replacing an earlier 16th-century structure. This rebuilding reflects the architectural style of the French classical period.

The castle's name reflects the Fey family lineage that shaped and managed the property over generations. Visitors can still observe traces of this family history in how the estate is structured and used today.

The estate is expansive and requires time to explore its various areas, so allow yourself adequate time for a visit. Access comes via the forest drive, which presents different conditions depending on the season.

Chef Anne Willan opened a cooking school on the estate in 1988, which attracted international students and brought culinary focus to the castle. This school became influential in contemporary French culinary education and practice.
