Château de Montbrun, Medieval castle in Dournazac, France

The stone fortress features four circular towers at each corner, a Roman-style keep named Le Grand Jacques, and a surrounding pond for defense.

Built in 1179 by Aymeric Bruni upon return from the Second Crusade, the castle changed possession multiple times during the Hundred Years' War.

The castle stands as an example of 15th-century military architecture, combining defensive elements with residential features typical of French nobility.

Guided tours operate daily at 16:00 from June through October, with entry fees of 15 euros for adults and 10 euros for children.

The castle's owner, Maarten Joost Lamers from the Netherlands, listed the 168-hectare estate for sale at 30 million euros in 2023.
