Built in the 13th and 14th centuries, the castle suffered partial destruction by Calvinist troops under Admiral Gaspard de Coligny in 1569.
The castle premises incorporate two Gothic kitchens, architectural elements from different periods, and a Celtic devotional fountain near the local church.
Visitors can reach the castle via Châlus train station, located 30 kilometers away, or through Limoges airport at 45 kilometers distance.
The fortified barn includes defensive features such as machicolations, demonstrating architectural techniques from the second half of the 16th century.
