Pont suspendu des Andelys, Suspension bridge in Les Andelys, France
The Pont suspendu des Andelys is a suspension bridge made of metal and reinforced concrete spanning the Seine River. Measuring 150 meters long and 5.70 meters wide, it connects the towns of Les Andelys and Tosny.
The original structure was built in 1838 but was destroyed during the war and rebuilt in its current form in 1947. It represents the infrastructure recovery of the post-war period.
The bridge takes its name from Les Andelys and links two communities that would otherwise be separated by the river. Local residents rely on it as a daily route across the Seine.
The bridge has a dedicated pedestrian path on its right side for safe crossing. The area around it is easily walkable and there are viewing points along the riverbank.
The bridge underwent major overhauls of its cable and suspension systems starting in 1988 and continuing through recent years. These upgrades have allowed it to safely carry thousands of vehicles daily.
