Abbaye du Moncel

Abbaye du Moncel is a monastery with Gothic architecture located in a wooded park bounded by stone walls along a river. The buildings and grounds spread across several hectares and form a contained complex separated from the surrounding countryside.

The monastery was founded in the early 14th century and housed a community of nuns for nearly 500 years. The French Revolution ended this monastic way of life and marked a turning point in the site's history.

A special feature is the preserved medieval kitchen with four large fireplaces, showing how the nuns prepared and shared daily meals. These functional spaces give visitors a direct impression of everyday life within the community.
