Château d'Ailly, Medieval castle in Bernières-d'Ailly, France.

The stone castle features a symmetrical main building with two wings connected by a central structure, surrounded by gardens and agricultural lands.

Built in 1050, Robert d'Ailly constructed a manor enclosed by walls and moats, which Charles d'Aubert d'Ailly transformed into its current form in 1721.

The castle represents the architectural evolution from medieval defensive structures to refined residences of the French nobility during the 18th century.

Located in the Calvados department of Normandy, the castle received heritage protection status as a registered historical monument on October 21, 1970.

During renovation works in 1832, nine Bronze Age helmets were discovered on the property, now known as the Ailly helmets.
