Camp de César, Archaeological site in Laudun-l'Ardoise, France

The Camp de César covers 18 hectares on a limestone terrace, rising 200 meters above the Rhône Valley with extensive remains of ancient settlements.

Founded in the 5th century BC during Celtic arrival, the site underwent multiple occupation periods through Iron Age, Roman times, and Middle Ages.

The archaeological complex contains a forum, basilica, ramparts, housing quarters, and necropolises, representing different architectural and social developments.

Visitors can explore the site through walking paths with informational boards explaining the historical significance of various structures throughout the complex.

The excavated area reveals five distinct occupation layers, featuring a detailed urban layout with craft quarters and defensive structures from different periods.
