Château de Faulin

Château de Faulin is a castle with a four-sided layout measuring roughly 90 meters by 32 meters, featuring square corner towers and circular towers in between. The structure appears as a compact fortress with thick walls and surprisingly large window openings for the period.

The Bourgoing family had the castle built in the late 15th century after purchasing the property in 1389. The family retained ownership for around three centuries thereafter.

The castle reveals its interior through period fireplaces, a winding spiral staircase, and a vaulted chapel housed in one of the large round towers. These spaces tell stories of daily life across the centuries.

Access to the castle is available only by appointment or during specific French Heritage Days throughout the year. Plan ahead and check opening conditions before visiting.

The castle's windows feature external iron bars topped with lily-shaped points that serve both practical and decorative purposes. These details reveal how builders combined protection with ornament.
