Château de Gonnord, Medieval castle in Chemillé-en-Anjou, France

The Château de Gonnord features a south facade with square towers and an inner courtyard decorated with Italian Renaissance style arcades.

The original 11th-century fortress was destroyed during the Hundred Years War before its reconstruction in the 15th century with a square layout.

The du Bellay and Cossé-Brissac families shaped the castle's history, which received visits from Kings Charles IX and Henry IV.

This historical monument, registered since 1926, is located on Impasse Hyppolyte Fournier in Valanjou, within the municipality of Chemillé-en-Anjou.

The castle stones, used as a quarry in the 19th century, preserved the eastern section of the building which still displays its former grandeur.
