The castle stands on a hillside with four towers connected by curtain walls, featuring oak woodwork and Burgundian tile covered walkways.
First mentioned in 851, the castle belonged to the house of Vergy by 920 before passing to Hugues de Rully in 1194.
The castle's architecture combines elements from different periods, with 14th-century military features and later residential additions from the 15th century.
Visitors can access the castle through guided tours, which include viewing the arched ceiling rooms and timber-framed corridors.
The castle remains in the hands of the Montessus family since 1619, making it one of the longest continuous family ownerships in France.
