Château de Saint-Geniès-Bellevue

The Château de Saint-Geniès-Bellevue is a castle featuring a central rectangular tower, two lateral wings added in the 18th century, and a southeast turret mounted on a decorative console. The structure combines elements from different building styles and forms an extensive compound with fortified parts.

The castle underwent substantial reconstruction between 1580 and 1600 during the religious wars, when new structures were built and existing parts reinforced. The Lassus family acquired the property in 1742 and contributed to its later development.

The castle displays architectural details from different periods inside, including an ornate fireplace in the main hall and a staircase with Renaissance features. These elements reflect the various building phases that have shaped the structure.

The castle is open to visitors during specific periods, so check the opening times before your visit. Access to different areas may vary depending on the season and weather conditions.

The entrance is decorated with terracotta chimera sculptures that welcome visitors as an unusual decorative feature. Behind the gate sits a green theater with a nymphaeum, creating a hidden retreat within the grounds.
