The Archives municipales de Toulouse contains 17,000 linear meters of documents spanning from the 13th century to present day in a 5,000 square meter building.
Founded in 1295, the archives started when Toulousian consuls initiated the creation of a comprehensive record book for preserving municipal documents.
The archive holds manuscripts, official papers, photographs, maps, and personal documents that detail the social and political development of Toulouse through centuries.
Located at 2 rue des Archives, the reading room welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 1 PM with afternoon appointments available on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The archives occupy a former water reservoir in the Bonnefoy district since 1996, following previous locations including a Capitole tower and the Périgord library basement.
