Château de Landreville, Medieval castle in Bayonville, France.

Château de Landreville is a medieval castle in Bayonville built with a rectangular core and four round towers marking each corner, all protected by water-filled moats. The structure sits within an expansive park that surrounds the entire fortress like a natural shield.

The castle was built in the 14th century but faced attack and damage when Emperor Charles V's troops occupied it in 1552. A major reconstruction happened in 1567 that reshaped the building into what visitors see today.

The name comes from the Landreville family who ruled these lands for centuries, and their influence remains visible throughout the rooms and spaces. You can still sense how aristocratic life unfolded here and what art and beauty they valued.

The castle operates as a bed-and-breakfast where visitors can stay overnight and explore the rooms, located conveniently near the D55 road. Guided tours run throughout the year, allowing guests to learn about the building and its history with expert help.

The main entrance features detailed embossed decorations and carved caryatid figures that reflect French Renaissance style from around 1550. These sculptural details are rarely this well preserved and make the entrance itself a work of art.
