Château de Selore, Historic castle in Saint-Yan, France

The castle features a rectangular central structure with two narrow wings extending from both facades, crowned by high-pitched roofs and ornate pilasters.

The original fortress was built by Burgundian troops to protect the western flank of Charolais county before being destroyed during the Religious Wars.

The ground floor reception rooms contain notable painted ceilings and friezes with scroll patterns characteristic of 17th century French architectural design.

The castle remains a private property and access is restricted except during special heritage events when portions become open to visitors.

The northern section includes stables, kennels, an ice house, and a circular dovecote that now houses the Selore Hunting Equipment collection.
