Château de Longecourt-en-Plaine

Château de Longecourt-en-Plaine is a fortified structure with four corner towers and surrounding moats in the Côte-d'Or region. The building sits within a large park that frames the main structure and its defensive features.

The present-day castle was built in 1539 by the Baissey family on the site of a 13th-century fortress. A major renovation between 1757 and 1761 transformed the interior and shaped how it appears today.

The main salon displays 18th-century decorations and a remarkable tiled floor with heraldic motifs and traditional patterns from the medieval period. These rooms reflect the craftsmanship that previous occupants valued in this space.

The castle operates as a residential lodging and offers guest rooms and a suite managed by the Le Gouz de Saint-Seine family. Visitors should note that it functions as a private accommodation, so access follows certain conditions.

During World War II, German forces occupied the castle before the American 320th Bomber Group took it over as headquarters in 1944. This successive occupation left marks on the site's wartime story.
