Château de Levis, Listed historical monument in Lurcy-Lévis, France.
The Château de Lévis is a castle in Lurcy-Lévis with two side pavilions flanking a central building. The complex combines decorative elements from the 1800s and spans approximately 15 structures across the property.
The castle was built in 1655 during the reign of Louis XIV and belonged to the Lévis family for over 300 years. It changed hands multiple times in the 1900s and underwent major architectural transformations.
The property retains original wooden panels and fireplaces from the 1600s in its main rooms. A medieval dovecote on the grounds recalls the earlier fortress that once stood here.
The estate is sprawling with several buildings best explored at a leisurely pace. A local association regularly organizes events that can make a visit particularly lively.
The central building received a double spiral staircase in 1855 leading to the noble rooms as part of a major update. This staircase shows how the owners adapted the residence to meet 1800s standards.
