Château de Maudétour, Historical castle in Maudétour-en-Vexin, France.
Château de Maudétour is a castle featuring classical architecture centered around a main courtyard with paved walkways and decorative wrought iron gates. The residence includes several outbuildings set within an expansive landscaped park.
The castle was built during the 17th and 18th centuries, replacing an earlier manor called Rubentel on the same site. Charles de Rancher commissioned the structure, which received official historic monument status in 1947.
The former chapel and justice pavilion on the grounds show how nobility displayed authority and social hierarchy. These buildings reveal the structure that governed daily life for residents and their community.
The castle underwent restoration work between 2006 and 2017 and has offered guest rooms since 2009. Visitors should be prepared for the large grounds and wear suitable footwear for exploring the park.
The park contains a rare ice house once used to store winter ice for household needs. An alley of lime trees supported by walls adds a distinctive character to the grounds.
