Château d'Heudicourt

Château d'Heudicourt is an 18th-century castle built with pink brick buildings surrounded by dry moats and formal gardens. The grounds feature pathways laid out in geometric patterns that guide visitors through the landscape.

The castle was founded in 1574 and served as a prison during the French Revolution before being restored as a private residence. This shift from prison to home marks a major turning point in its story.

The rooms on display contain original furniture and decorations that reflect how residents lived during the 18th century. Walking through them gives a sense of daily life and personal taste from that era.

The visit is best done on dry days when the gardens and pathways are easy to walk through. Comfortable shoes are helpful since you will walk through multiple rooms and across the outdoor grounds.

A tree-lined avenue about one kilometer long made of plane and lime trees leads from the perimeter to the castle entrance, offering a different experience from the formal gardens. This wooded approach was part of the original design and creates a natural transition to the property.
