Baulx Castle, Medieval castle in Saint-Jean-de-Buèges, France
The fortress stands on elevated ground with a donjon, dry moat, fortified walls, and stone structures designed for military defense and surveillance.
Built as a watchtower in the 12th century, the castle expanded in the 13th century and received modifications until its documented state of ruin in 1749.
The Compagnons de Tras Castel association leads restoration projects and organizes theatrical performances in an open-air stage at the castle rampart.
Summer visits run from July to August between 5 PM and 7 PM, with guided tours available on Sundays at 5:30 PM for 5 euros per person.
The medieval garden, established in 2001, maintains historical plant varieties through dedicated volunteer work and regular maintenance sessions.
