Château de Beauvais is a rectangular castle in Lussas-et-Nontronneau with two round towers at opposite ends crowned with battlements that overlook a narrow valley. The structure uses the terrain's slope to naturally enhance its defensive position.

Construction started in 1533 by the Faure La Roderie family on land previously held by the Mareuil family, lasting about two decades. Later owners preserved the original layout while adapting the property to their needs.

The castle reflects how French nobility blended living quarters with defensive features to balance comfort and protection in their residences. This approach was typical for estates of the era.

The castle sits in a rural valley and is best explored on foot via local paths that connect it to the nearby village. Access may vary depending on season and conditions, so checking ahead is worth doing.

Catherine des Cars, a notable resident, shaped the castle's history through strategic marriages and eventually transferred ownership to her brother, the Marquis des Cars. Such ownership changes reveal how estates functioned as assets within noble families.
