Château de Bien-Assis, Medieval manor house in Montluçon, France.

The Bien-Assis Castle features a square tower, a circular turret, and a crenelated terrace, standing on a promontory overlooking the city.

Built in the 15th century by Colas de Peret, treasurer of Duke Jean II of Bourbon, the castle passed through several noble families until the 20th century.

The main ground floor room contains biblical wall paintings dating from the Religious Wars period, based on period engravings.

The building now houses historical collections and a library maintained by the Friends of Montluçon Society, including books from the 16th to 18th centuries.

A natural spring feeds directly into the vaulted cellar beneath the main building of the castle.
