Château de la Crête, Medieval castle in Audes, France.

The castle features a central courtyard surrounded by buildings with protruding towers, turrets, and a dovecote with mullioned windows in neo-Gothic style.

The original fortress dates back to the 14th century and remained inhabited until the French Revolution, when it fell into ruins.

The castle represents the architectural evolution from medieval fortification to Renaissance style, showcasing the transformation of French noble residences over centuries.

The current castle, constructed between 1895 and 1905, stands 1.5 kilometers west of Audes village, overlooking the Forest stream valley.

The structure combines local ochre and red sandstone materials, creating a distinct architectural signature within the Allier department of France.
