Château de la Renaudie

Château de la Renaudie is a castle with four towers positioned at each corner, combining medieval and Renaissance design elements throughout its structure. The fortress displays architectural details that developed across multiple centuries.

Construction of the fortress spanned from the 13th through the 16th centuries, showing typical military design from the 14th century. It once belonged to Jean du Barry, a Calvinist leader.

Inside the tower stands a fireplace with two carved pillars that show gothic craftsmanship and reflect how nobles shaped their living spaces over time. This preserved work reveals the tastes of those who lived here.

The castle is privately owned and normally closed to visitors throughout the year. However, you can view it during Heritage Days when special openings are arranged for the public.

A Renaissance window frame from the 16th century remains inside the castle walls, showing the shift from medieval to Renaissance architecture. This detail often goes unnoticed by visitors compared to other features.
