Collégiale Notre-Dame de Villefranche-de-Rouergue

The Notre-Dame collegiate church rises 58 meters above the town center, featuring three distinct architectural sections and two impressive organs within its walls.

Construction began in the mid-13th century under Alfonso of Poitiers and continued for over 300 years, interrupted by the Hundred Years War and various epidemics.

The church houses one of southwestern France's finest carillons, comprising 58 bells that ring across the medieval town during celebrations and ceremonies.

Visitors can access the church daily from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and Saturdays, with modified hours from noon to 6:00 PM on Sundays.

The porch displays intricate Gothic sculptures depicting small animals among oak leaves, while the choir preserves original medieval stained glass windows.
