Conservatoire du Bégonia, Botanical garden and begonia collection in Rochefort, France.

The Conservatoire du Bégonia spans 1,000 square meters of greenhouse space, displaying more than 500 species and 1,000 hybrid varieties of begonias.

Created in 1988, the conservatory pays tribute to Charles Plumier, who discovered begonias during his expedition to the Americas funded by Michel Bégon.

The collection grows through international exchanges, purchases, and expeditions to South America and Cameroon, representing global botanical cooperation.

The facility offers guided tours during spring and fall seasons, with specific visiting hours and entrance fees for exploring the extensive begonia collection.

The National Collection houses the largest assemblage of begonias worldwide, including specimens from tropical regions and high-altitude environments up to 3,800 meters.
