La Pierre Couvretière dolmen, Neolithic dolmen in Ancenis-Saint-Géréon, France.

La Pierre Couvretière is a Neolithic burial structure made of two large sandstone blocks supporting a heavy capstone across the top. The construction creates an internal chamber with a passage entry, typical of megalithic tombs from this prehistoric period.

This burial site was built during the Neolithic period as a tomb for multiple individuals from that early population. Excavations in the 1970s revealed tools and pottery from that ancient era inside the chamber.

The monument reflects how Neolithic communities honored their dead and organized burial rituals in this region. The way stones were chosen and arranged shows the knowledge and values these early people held.

The site sits in an industrial area with road access from two different streets nearby, making it relatively easy to locate. Before visiting, it is helpful to check access conditions since it is an ancient monument situated in a modern developed zone.

This is the only remaining dolmen left standing in the entire Ancenis region, protected as a historical monument since 1926. Its location surrounded by modern industry makes it a striking reminder of how ancient monuments can survive in unexpected places.
